Bali starlings 2 days

Departs all year around
Price on request

Day 1: We pick you up at your hotel early in the morning and head to Sanur to get the local speed boat to Nusa Penida. If we’re lucky we can see both flying fish and dolphins on the boat ride. We will spend the rest of the day on the back of a motor bike, when we will go to look for the Bali Starlings.  We will also check on “the girls”. The girls are the three remaining Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoos and they are at the western border of the sub-species Cacatua sulphurea parvula.

Nusa Penida is known for skilful weavers of ikat cloth and we’ll try to stop at a weavers house as well to see this complex process. We stay the night at a local guest house.

Day 2: We catch the morning speed boat back to mainland Bali to visit the Begawan breeding centre in Sibang (not far from  Bali Bird Park and Bali Zoo). Check out the aviaries and the nursery. You can also have a look around the amazing Green School, where the breeding centre is based. The school is entirely built from bamboo.
We have lunch together at the school’s cafeteria before the driver will take you back to your hotel.

Included: transfer from and to your hotel (Ubud, Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Sanur, Nusa Dua), boat travel to and from Nusa Penida. All transport, food, water and accomodation on Nusa Penida. Transport to Begawan breeding centre and lunch in Green School.

Any surplus from this trip will be donated to Begawan Foundation.
